FAIRFAX, VA. —

Cam Long scored 22 points and George Mason rallied late to beat Creighton 75-72 on Saturday.

Long hit 1 of 2 free throws after a technical foul was called on Blue Jays coach Dana Altman with 18 seconds remaining to give George Mason its first lead since the 19:34 mark of the second half. Luke Hancocks dunk off a steal by Andre Cornelius put George Mason (5-5) up 75-72 with 5 seconds left to play.

Justin Carters 3-point attempt at the buzzer rimmed out as the Blue Jays (3-5), who led for the majority of the second half, remained winless away from home.

Long had 22 points while Ryan Pearson added 17 points, 10 rebounds and four steals for George Mason, which took a 34-33 lead into halftime. PAllen Stinnett had 21 points for Creighton.

Southern Illinois 82, Alabama State 63

CARBONDALE — Kevin Dillard’s 19 points keyed Southern Illinois’ 82-63 romp over Alabama State on Saturday.

Nick Evans scored 14 points — all in the second half — and Tony Freeman and Anthony Booker added 12 apiece for the Salukis (5-2), who shot a blistering 60.8 percent (31 of 51).

Menji Mundadi led the Hornets (1-6), hitting 9 of 15 shots, including 6 of 9 3-pointers, and all five free throws for a game-high 29 points. But Tramayne Moorer, with 12, was the only other Alabama State player in double figures.

Alabama State led 6-2 before Southern Illinois launched a 15-0 assault to grab a 17-6 advantage with 12:15 left in the first half.

Tramaine Butler’s 3-pointer with 7:02 left cut the gap to 24-23, but the Salukis led 40-31 at intermission, and after Evans’ jumper to open the second half made it 42-31, the Hornets never got within double digits.

Drake 77, Binghamton 76

DES MOINES, Iowa  — Josh Young sank two free throws with four seconds left to lift Drake to a thrilling 77-76 win over Binghamton on Saturday night in the Drake Invitational.

The game was tied seven times in the final 7 ½ minutes, and the Bearcats (3-7) took their last lead on a 3-pointer by Dylan Talley with 12 seconds to go to, making it 75-76.

But Umur Peten fouled Young at the four-second mark, setting up the Bulldogs (5-5) to tie it and win.

Young finished with 16 points, including hitting all six of his free-throw tries. Seth VanDeest led the Bulldogs with 21 points while Adam Templeton added 16.

The Bearcats were down 25-34 at halftime, but took a 51-43 scoring advantage in the second half by shooting nearly 70 percent from the field .

Chretien Lukusa paced the Bearcats with 21 points, including five 3-pointers. Talley added 17.

Wichita State 80, TCU 60

WICHITA, Kan. — J.T. Durley tied his career high with 19 points Saturday night to lead Wichita State to an 80-68 victory over Texas Christian.

The Shockers (9-1), who never trailed, also got 17 points from Toure Murry and 16 from Clevin Hannah.

TCU (5-5) was led by Zvonko Buljan’s 29 points.

Murry hit two 3-pointers in the first two minutes to give Wichita State an 8-1 lead. Another Murry 3 started an 11-1 run later in the first half, pushing the advantage to 26-12.

Wichita State still led by 14 early in the second half before TCU made a move. Greg Hill sparked the Horned Frogs, hitting four 3-pointers in an eight-minute span, one of which cut the Shockers’ lead to 53-51 with 10:34 remaining. Hill scored 15 of his 17 points in the second half.

The Shockers maintained control at the free throw line, making 25 of 28 in the game.

Northern Iowa 82, Siena 65

 

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — Ali Farokhmanesh scored 15 points to lead a balanced offensive attack and Northern Iowa defeated Siena 82-65 Saturday night.

Kwadzo Ahelegbe and Jordan Eglseder each added 14, and Johnny Moran and Adam Koch had 12 apiece for the Panthers (7-1), who won their sixth straight.

Edwin Ubiles led the Saints (6-4) with 19 points while Ronald Moore had 16 and Alex Franklin 15.

Leading 56-53 with 8:49 remaining, Northern Iowa went on an 18-5 run to take control of the game.

The first half featured seven lead changes, and the Panthers went into intermission up 33-30. There were four more lead changes in the first four minutes of the second half. Northern Iowa went ahead for good on a 3-pointer by Moran, which gave them a 42-40 advantage.

Missouri State 75, Arkansas State 64

 

JONESBORO, Ark. — Will Creekmore scored 17 points and Adam Leonard and Kyle Weems added 15 each to lead Missouri State to a 75-64 victory against Arkansas State on Saturday night.

The Bears (9-0) never trailed after halftime, when the scored was tied at 35-35. Creekmore jump-started Missouri State by scoring its first seven points of the second half, and a 19-7 run over an eight-minute span gave Missouri State a 68-53 lead with 4:10 remaining.

Daniel Bryant and Brandon Reed scored 16 points apiece for Arkansas State (3-5), which erased a 14-point deficit to knot the score at intermission.

Missouri State, which made 18 of 20 free-throw attempts in the second half, has won consecutive road games for the first time since the 2006-07 season.
