Tony Freeman scored 26 points to lead Southern Illinois to an 86-65 win against Southeast Missouri on Wednesday.
Freeman made 10 of 15 field goals, including 6 of 11 3-pointers, for the Salukis (4-2).
Anthony Booker added 10 points and 11 rebounds for Southern Illinois. Nick Evans scored 15, and Carlton Fay and Kevin Dillard had 11 apiece.
Anthony Allison led Southeast Missouri (3-7) with 15 points. Eric McCrary scored 13, and LaMont Russell grabbed 10 rebounds.
Southern Illinois used a 25-5 run to take a 40-14 lead with about three minutes left in the first half.
The Salukis shot 56.1 percent from the field, including 42.1 percent on 3-pointers, and scored 27 points off turnovers.
Ball State 68, Indiana State 63
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Ball State got 16 points from Jarrod Jones and held off Indiana State down the stretch Wednesday for a 68-63 victory.
The Cardinals (3-3) led by as many as 16 points in the second half before Indiana State (5-3) rallied to take a 59-58 lead with 3:06 remaining on a layup by Dwayne Lathan. Ball State answered with a 6-2 run, then hit four straight free throws in the final 12 seconds to secure the win.
Jauwan Scaife had 14 points and Randy Davis added 11 points and eight rebounds for Ball State.
Indiana State got more points from its bench (32) than its starters (31), including a team-high 16 from Lathan. Starter Harry Marshall added 14 for the Sycamores.
Ball State, which led 31-23 at halftime, shot 51.1 percent from the field and was 4 for 6 from 3-point range. Indiana State shot 42.6 percent.
Wichita State 73, UMKC 52
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — David Kyles came off the bench to score 16 points and lead four players in double figures as Wichita State beat Missouri-Kansas City 73-52 Wednesday night.
The Shockers (8-1) won their sixth consecutive game and broke a two-game losing streak against the Kangaroos. UMKC beat Wichita State in each of the last two seasons.
Kyles had 13 of his game-high 16 points in the second half. The Shockers played 11 players and nine of them scored. J.T. Durley had 12 points, and Graham Hatch and Toure’ Murry added 10 each.
The Kangaroos (4-4) were paced by Jay Couisnard with 13 points, LaTreze Mushatt with 11 and Bakari Lewis with 10.
Wichita State led 34-22 at halftime. The Kangaroos made just 5 of 23 field goals in the first half (22 percent).
Missouri State 79, Tennessee-Martin 51
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Missouri State used a hot first-half start to topple Tennessee-Martin, 79-51, Wednesday night at JQH Arena to improve to 8-0 on the season. Three Bears scored 13 points, including Adam Leonard, Kyle Weems and Jermaine Mallett.
Mallett scored MSU's first seven points as Cuonzo Martin's team led 20-7 five-and-a-half minutes into the game. After the Skyhawks (1-6) fought back to within 22-15 on a three-pointer by Cataurius Taylor at the 12:11 mark, Missouri State went on a 16-0 run and UT Martin was never closer than 17 the rest of the way.
Mallett, who finished with a career high, and Leonard did all their scoring in the first half, including a combined 4-for-4 from three-point range in the opening stanza.
